It was a glorious sunny day for this month’s Saturday Club. More than 50 CTCers joined us for a lovely lunch and a cheerful afternoon.
Everyone chipped in to make the day run smoothly – helping to set up, cook, provide entertainment and clear up. Special thanks to Dave on the music decks, Ben, Gill and Debbie on the raffle, Violet and Nora on teas and coffees, Karin and Pam on cakes and Jimmy, Margaret, Monty and Sam for clearing up. Lots of people brought along raffle prizes too and helped in out in other ways.
Alex from North London Cares was in charge in the kitchen, helped by fabulous volunteer (and professional chef!) Lexine. A great team of CTCers – Frieda, Karin, Pam, Pik, Conny, Irene, Maggie and Nicole chopped, stirred and pulled together a fabulous Thai Green curry with spring rolls, followed by a fresh fruit salad of mangos and melons and pineapple. There were so many compliments about the yumminess and freshness of the food.
In the afternoon we all had a chuckle with a quiz about classic British comedies. We watched lots of clips from Allo Allo, One foot in the Grave and Dad’s Army to name a few, and answered questions about the sketches and the characters. Thanks to Sally for lending us the game and thanks to everyone for a lovely day.
Please note that there will no Saturday Club for the next 2 months (April and May) due to the first Saturday of the month falling on Bank Holidays. But we’ll be back on June 6th!
