This Friday 19 CTC members headed up to Hampstead Heath for a May Day picnic on Parliament Hill. We travelled together by public bus and then were met by Joe from Wild About Hampstead Heath – a community project supporting local people to explore the amazing wildlife on Hampstead Heath. Luckily after a cloudy start and a forecast of showers, brilliant sunshine broke through. After finding a nice spot near the bandstand we settled in to share the food everyone had brought along from apple pie to homemade strawberry lassi. It was a lovely afternoon. Joe took a few folks on a short stroll to see a bit more of the Heath, while the rest of us stayed at our base camp and took part in a bit of meditation and light stretching led by CTCer, Irene, to make the most of the fresh air and peace and quiet. This was a popular activity and Irene will be doing similar sessions straight after coffee morning every Friday at Abbey Community Centre to help us keep the grey cells in good nick!
Thanks so much to Joe and his colleagues for such a lovely reception. Also for providing us with the Heath’s mobility scooters to make sure people who would otherwise not have been able to have come were able to have a lovely day on the Heath.
All in all a lovely way to welcome in May.
