Getting ready to battle the heat before traveling to the museum!

This week the CHAPS program here at the Abbey Community Centre went on a Freedom Pass trip to the Imperial War Museum! With searing hot temperatures this week, it still didn’t stop these brave men from touring the incredible museum. Before entering the museum the CHAPS explored the grounds of the Imperial and viewed the massive cannons that could blast shells over 15 miles. As we entered the museum, the group’s jaws dropped as we were in shock of the airplane jets and rockets dangling above our heads. It was as if the planes were in mid-flight. As we continued our journey through the museum, the group was brought back to some of the world’s most troubling times. To name off some of the exhibits we saw were the WWI, WWII, the holocaust and the machinery used throughout the wars. It was all very interesting to learn about and also very shocking at the same time. The group seemed to enjoy themselves in the air-conditioned building learning about the past and I believe it was another successful Freedom Pass Trip!
