Saturday Club Returns!

After a few months off, Saturday 4th July saw the summery return of CTC Saturday Club! And with more than 50 people joining us for lunch it was really back with a bang!

Digging in!

Digging in!

In true CTC style, everyone chipped in to help out and to earn their time credits. A big thank you to everyone who played music, collected tickets, manned the door, brought raffle prizes, did the tea and coffee, baked cakes, made lunch, called the raffle, laid the tables and cleared up at the end. A special mention to Sushiben and others from Prabhat’s sewing group who put in many hours making the most beautiful bunting from donated material especially for the relaunch. It really brightened up the room and made the day extra special. We’ll use it again and again too (including this Friday for when the Opera comes to the Abbey!)

Look at all the lovely bunting!

Because it was also US Independence Day we injected a bit of US spirit into the proceedings with a delicious all-American menu of macaroni cheese followed by apple pie. A big thank you to Alex and Roger from North London Cares for leading the cooking demonstration and all our volunteer chefs who made it happen. We also did a US quiz including try to name as many states on a map as possible! A big thank you to our intern (and real-life American!) Zach for pulling this together before he flew back to the States last week.

Our gardeners also put on a fabulous plant sale to raise extra funds for our lovely garden. Thank you to Maria-Elena for organising.
