CTC Saturday Club was another winner this month, with 60 people turning out on a cold winter’s day for a warming afternoon of fun with their neighbours. Fabulous volunteer chef, Tissy, and her brilliant team cooked a truly delicious traditional Moroccan feast for us all.
Apricots and dates stuffed with cheese and grapes
Harirah (traditional chunky Moroccan soup made from tomatoes, lentils, celery, noodles and chickpeas)
Served with boiled eggs sprinkled with cumin and a tomato salsa.
Fresh oranges and cinnamon
In the afternoon we played a few games of bingo and called the famous CTC raffle. A big thank you to Pam for calling the bingo – especially two little ducks 22 – quack quack! Lots of prizes won and most importantly lots of money raised for our new cooker fund! As lots of you know we are in desperate need of a new cooker to help us carry on with community lunch clubs like CTC Saturday Club. Our current one is getting very old and is beginning to fall apart….and cooks so slowly now that our volunteers have to get in at the crack of dawn to come in and fire it up! We raised a whopping £91.91 towards it. Keep your eyes peeled for a poster in the centre soon letting everyone know how much we’ve raised towards our target so far!
Lots of tea and yummy Karin and Pam baked cakes as always. DJ Dave span the tunes and kept everyone grooving! And thanks to everyone else who helped cook, clean, set up, pack down, and brought raffle prizes to help make the day a great one. We couldn’t do it without you 🙂
